No timetable for Jalen Saunders’ return to team practice.
In a press conference today Saunders did not explain his medical condition or status except to say he was not worried about his future.
“I’m not trying to relive that moment,” Saunders said. “It was a shocking situation, but I’m alive and happy.”
Jalen Saunders does not know what happened and has nothing further to add.
Saunders has been at practice, but has not been practicing with the team.
Some fans with seizure disorder, speculate that he may have experienced an Absence seizure, one of six types. He remains under doctors care.
Saunders is not expected to play Vs. N.Y. Giants. It has not been stated when he’ll return to full practice / play with the N.Y. Jets.
Saunders “experienced a medical event” last Friday which caused him to drive off the road into a grassy area while attempting a left turn less than a mile from the Jets’ facility, according to the police report.
He was taken to the hospital where he remained until Sunday, when he was released.
The Jets have not revealed a cause, leaving it up to Saunders to explain his condition. He has not practiced with the team since leaving the hospital, where he stayed for what was termed “observation”.
Rex Ryan has continued to decline to elaborate on Saunders’ medical condition and whether it is or will be long-term concern.
“I think right now we’re taking a cautious approach with him, which is a smart approach,” Ryan said.
Rex Ryan won’t speculate on whether Saunders, would return for the season opener; however he remains on the roster as the teams punt returner.
“I think it’s too early to say right now, Standing here, it’s easy to say he’ll play, but we don’t know, really, how he’s going to progress through this exercise and all that. The main thing is the health of our player, the health of Jalen.” -Rex Ryan
