Jets’ Sheldon Richardson court case resolved

New York Jets DE Sheldon Richardson pleaded guilty to reduced misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest, speeding and running a red light in suburban St. Louis, Missouri Court.

The plea agreement reached with prosecutors allows Richardson to avoid jail time.

Richardson was arrested on multiple charges in July, 2015 after leading police on a high-speed chase.

Subsequent to the plea deal Richardson received a reduced sentence equaling 100 hours of community service and fined $1,050.

In addition, He received a two year suspended sentence predicated on the successful completion of probation.

The pre trial plea deal also stipulates that his resisting arrest charge will be expunged from his record upon the successful completion of his probation.

Richardson now becomes subject to a suspension under the NFL’s personal-conduct policy.

If Richardson is suspended by the NFL, it will mark the second year in a row the Jets will start the season without him.
