Jets making ST effort with Kicker

The Jets have signed kicker Kyle Brindza to a reserve/future contract.</strong update:

>The Jets have waived kicker Kyle Brindza two weeks after signing him to a reserve/future contract, as a result of Brindza tearing his Achilles’ tendon during a workout.

Brindza (6’1″, 236) entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame with Detroit after last year’s draft. The Lions traded him to Tampa Bay for TE Tim Wright in August and the Buccaneers waived him in October.

He was previously tried out in 2015, but not signed.

Brindza (6’1″, 236) entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame with Detroit after last year’s draft. The Lions traded him to Tampa Bay for TE Tim Wright in late August and the Buccaneers waived him in October.

He was perfect in the preseason for the Lions, hitting all three fields and both extra points he tried, before the trade. As the Bucs’ kicker in the first six games, he converted six of 12 field goals and six of eight PATs. One of his field goals was a 58-yarder against the Texans.

On September 27, 2015, in a Week 3 contest against the Houston Texans, Brindza missed 3 field goal attempts and an extra point in a 19-9 loss. However, he made a career long 58-yard field goal in the same game. The next week he would miss 2 field goal attempts and another extra point in a crucial 37-23 loss against the Carolina Panthers.
