Jets’ fill coaching vacancies for 2016

Is this a missed opportunity?

Was Kevin Mawae interviewed?

Todd Bowles and the Jets have promoted John Scott Jr. from defensive quality control coach to assistant defensive line coach, have hired David Diaz-Infante as assistant offensive line coach, and have brought in Tim Atkins to fill Scott’s role as defensive quality control coach.

Scott came to Bowles’ staff last year and entered the NFL for the first time after serving as a college coach for the past 12 seasons.

Diaz-Infante (Not Kevin Mawae) comes to the Jets after a stint in 2013-14 as an offensive assistant with the Arizona Cardinals, where he worked with Bowles. He had a long career as a guard/center in the NFL (Chargers, 1987, Broncos, 1996-98 and ’01, Eagles, 1999), WLAF (Frankfurt, 1991-92), CFL (Sacramento, 1993-94), and XFL (Las Vegas, 2001), earning two Super Bowl rings with the Broncos.

• Diaz-Infante replaces Ron Heller, who had been fired along with special teams coordinator Bobby April and special teams assistant Steve Hagen right after the season ended.

• Tim Atkins was hired to replace Scott as defensive qualify control coach.

Former N.Y. #Jets center and owner of Elite Line Camp, Kevin Mawae; 8X Pro Bowler, 8X All Pro. Not among the hired.

I appreciate your efforts, but NY, as much as I love it, is not where I wanna be ..too cold in winter.
