Head Coach Todd Bowles said he was the only one who knew Chan Gailey was leaving after his second year and yet Bowles has seemingly been unable to fill the position.
While being the Jets next offensive coordinator might not be the most attractive NFL position, the right coach/coordinator probably would have first right of refusal as the next head coach should owner Woody Johnson not extend Bowles contact beyond 2018.
